“I think Headway is lovely and I’d like to come more often”
Val was born in London and worked in a factory from the age of 16 years. She got married when she was 20 and she and her husband brought up 7 children. Val stayed at home with her children until they were teenagers when they moved down to Cornwall. They went on a holiday of a lifetime to Australia to stay with a childhood friend of Val’s, with whom she still keeps in touch. Val and Len lived happily in St Day for 8 years until Len died. Val had her stroke in 1997 and was in hospital for 8 weeks, she lives independently with support from her daughter Lyn. Val was introduced to Headway Cornwall by Lyn, who brought her along to the Truro centre when it opened in 2010. Val has been a regular attendee ever since, showing a real talent for painting and drawing.
